Tide Pools & Nature

Fitzgerald Marine Reserve

Moss Beach

All ages for views; best for ages 4+ at the tide pools

Free

Year-round; best at low tide

What it offers

Choose between a quick bluffside stop with beautiful coastal views or a longer nature outing down to the tide pools. At low tide, kids can search for crabs, anemones, sea stars and other marine life.

Why parents might like it

This can be as simple or adventurous as your family wants. Stop for the view when you only have a little time, or follow the scenic route toward the water for a fuller tide-pooling outing.

Before you book

Check the tide before leaving—the tide pools are best around low tide. The route and rocks near the water can be wet, uneven and slippery, so younger children will need close supervision. Remind kids to observe marine life without touching, moving rocks or taking anything home.

Amenities

Free parking, restrooms, picnic tables, scenic bluff trails and coastal viewpoints

Typical visit

15–30 minutes for the views; 60–90+ minutes with the tide pools
